The Waddle

We were in Dwight, IL this weekend to see 800-1000 basset hounds. This was amazing. Check it out here if you are interested.

Switching

Tired of Microsoft? We all are. Switch to Google Docs. I just created a 40 tab spreadsheet to track my workouts. I'm troubled, I know but Google Docs is still a great way to go.

Who the hell are they talking to?

This one goes out to all of you urbanites. Represent. So we've all been there, you are in the back of the cab. The driver up front is perpetually on his cell phone speaking Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Cantonese, or some other language you can't decipher. You sit there in the back wondering who the hell are all of these cab drivers talking to. They can't all have 3 concubines and a wife, right? Well, I'm reading this book by a young, Jewish lesbian who decided to chuck the advertising world and drive a yellow cab in NYC at age 29 and I have an answer. They are talking to other cab drivers. Many of them conference call with 5 or 6 other drivers of similar ethnicity and discuss things like the best routes, spots to find fares, how to get to obscure locations, and not surprisingly, you the passenger. So there you go. That was worth the price right there. I dig the book quite a bit though, so if you are in the market for reading material and you are fascinated by cabs or New York City, there you go.

Good News

Last weekend we discovered that they just opened a new Lou Malnati's in Wicker Park. We got delivery last night. There is no end to my excitement here.

Running Too Far

I ran this yesterday. I was severely undertrained. I finished just fine but learned a really important lesson. Training is in fact important.

Illini

Tough game for the Illini this weekend. However, we did win one battle. Undrafted Pierre Thomas, last year's tailback beat out the much heralded Antonio Pittman for a spot on the Saints' 53 man roster. Pittman was a fourth round selection.
