It's crazy...

The Cubs have won 2 in a row. Did you notice?

One Question

Watching TV tonight, I'm left with one thought. Who the hell threw the green light on this latest Fast and the Furious movie? I thought I was the only one that saw 2 Fast 2 Furious (on TBS no less), but apparently that made money? Is this possible? Why do I not understand this?

Recovery

I have once again recovered from illness. I'm starting to think I might not survive the year, as I haven't been a healthy kid at all in the first half. It seems that 2007 can't get here soon enough for a number of reasons. I remain optimistic though, as it is my nature to do.

Newly healthy, I'm looking forward to readying myself for the Leheney wedding, the World Series of Poker, visits to others, and visits from afar. Here is to a spectacular second half of '06. *raises glass*

Livin' single has left me with seemingly less time than I had before. I'm not exactly sure how this makes sense but apparently it does. Thankfully the Cubs suck, so I don't have to worry about that at all. My poker time is way down. My TV watching isn't up at all. My exercise is up but not enough. I am making time to read some books. Right now it's Saint Morrissey, which has been solid.

Here's something good...the Buffalo Sabres just won in OT to force Game 7 and keep their Stanley Cup championship (and my bet on them) alive. Go Sabres!

Are you a Star Wars Dork?

I just had to share this. Thanks Margaret.

Back from Vegas

I was in Vegas this past weekend for a Bachelor Party. It was a really good time. That pretty much sums up my commentary. I hope all is well for everyone. I'll be out of town this coming weekend also, so my commentary here might be brief for another week or so. Sorry to the readership.

The Weekend

The weekend was somewhat eventful, I'll have to say. Friday I just kept it low key essentially. Saturday though, I got to head out to Round Lake (a.k.a Southern Canada) for my first ever co-ed wedding shower. It was a pretty solid time. I brought a bottle of '02 Franciscan Cabernet to "share" but I pretty much drank the whole thing myself. Well, maybe just 2/3 of the bottle. I had a little sangria also, caught up with the Lamores and got pounded at bags. Hopefully, you know what I'm talkig about with "bags". Anyway, after rolling out of there in the early evening I attempted to get to another party. Of course, Uncle Curtis was prominently involved so I didn't get there. The only place I really went was a little neighborhood called "over-served". This was no surprise.

Sunday morning brought brunch at Wishbone in the West Loop. The service was absolutely horrid but the food was solid as always. I then cruised out to the 'burbs and spent a little coin on some new threads. From there, I was able to get to the grocery store, tackle my laundry, dishes, get a run in, and catch The Sopranos and Grey's Anatomy. I thought Grey's was excellent this week, by the way. I even had a little time left for some Party Poker. This was probably my most productive Sunday in quite some time.

Other happenings this weekend....

My brother had his biggest game of the season against the dreaded Pepsi squad. After a tough first inning where he yielded his first two runs (1 was earned) of the year, he settled down and threw 3 scoreless innings. He then proceeded to get his first home run of the season and follow that up with a double that should have been a triple were it not for a dubious call at 3rd. His squad triumphed over Pepsi and remains undefeated.

I got news that my man Dan Brown in Milwaukee will be a father soon. His wife is 3 months pregnant. Congratulations DB, I knew those fish could swim!

The Suns held off the Lakers, making my buddy Swartz happy. I'm happy for him also. Still, this Suns team has no hope of making the Finals. That much is obvious.

It became clear to me that the Cubs season is probably over already. This is a sad, sad thing. Of course, the White Sox are crushing the entire universe. This just makes it worse.

Alrighty, I'm out of here. Time to eat some more garlic stuffed olives.

Something that shouldn't happen....

I was at the Cubs game Monday night. It was a very exciting win for my Cubs against the Bucs. We had a guy at first that batted from the left side in this game. He was wearing number 17. Was it Mark Grace? I wish. It was John Mabry. If Mabry is going to play 1st, he should have to switch numbers. Plain and simple.
